UP Series, Ultrapure Deionized Water Heaters
The
Lufran® UP Series Ultrapure DI Water Heater has been designed to
deliver years of trouble-free, low maintenance operation. To date, over 1100 UP
Series water heaters have been sold worldwide. The UP Series accommodates any
temperature setting up to 100°C +/- 1°C and any flow rate.
The Lufran® UP Series
point-of-use, in-line system quickly heats DI water with the minimum amount of
exposed surface area. An ultra-clean environment is provided with no
metal-to-water contact. Wetted surfaces are of fluoropolymer
(heater) and PVDF (liner). The UP Series incorporates
Patented, all PTFE
fluoropolymer high wattage heaters
with a nitrogen purge feature. Included
with the heater is a Process Control Module(s) which incorporates a digital PID
controller and multiple safety features.

OUTSTANDING FEATURES INCLUDE:
- Patented heater purge ensures heater
integrity, longevity and temperature stability.
- Heaters are in direct contact with
the DI water for fast response.
- Constant flow feature ensures that
water is not allowed to stagnate, thereby preventing the buildup of
contaminants. (DI water bleed available to inhibit bacterial/ fungal growth.)
- Compact modular design allows
systems to be used independently or in combinations. Models from 7 to 260
Kilowatts.
- All instrumentation is isolated from
the DI water.
- Accommodates any flow rate,
temperatures up to 100°C and pressures up to 100 PSIG.
SAFETY FEATURES/ANNUNCIATORS
Every Lufran® UP Series DI
Water Heater is protected against accidental damage. The operator's safety is
assured through a network of interlocking safety devices.
- Heater Purge Exhaust Monitor:
The purge monitor analyzes the humidity level of the purge exhaust gas as it
flows through the heating elements, ensuring heater integrity.
- Capacitance Liquid Level
Sensor: Sensor mounted externally to the exit plumbing, ensures that
a safe water level is maintained during heater operation.
- Internal Heater Monitor:
A factory set over-temperature control device (OTCD) continuously monitors a
sensor that is built into the heating element, ensuring that the heating
element is operating within a safe temperature range.
- High Process Temperature
Limiting Control: A factory set independent high process temperature
limiting control monitors the heated DI water exiting the system to prevent
excessive outlet temperature. This control uses an independent thermocouple
and power relay to provide complete redundancy to the primary temperature
control network.
- System Pressure Monitor:
A factory set low pressure limiting control monitors the pressure of the
incoming DI water supply to prevent heater operation during a low pressure
condition that may result in the generation of steam.
- Temperature Control High
Alarm: The process temperature controller's high alarm prevents
heater operation above a preset maximum temperature.
- Optional
UPDI-DAC control option available.
- Optional
solid
state relay upgrade available.
